It's Ok To Not Know...

Life is unpredictable, don't you think?

You know that question: "What do you want to be doing when you grow up?" or "Where do you see yourself in five years?". How does it make you feel? When you want to scream "I DON'T KNOW". But instead you come out with "I am going to study medicine, married to a beautiful wife/husband, have two children and a cat called Ted or Tom" . Or maybe convincing yourself that that's what you want to do, when in reality frickin idea. Unfortunately we aren't given the space to find out, truly, what we want to do.

So if you've read my past blog, you'd know that I ended up taking in psychology and business, but after a year of certainty but dread, I decided to jump into the unknown and take time off the well worn path.

This time when I was asked what I was going to be doing next year, I really didn't know. There was no written up journey with the papers of life I'd be taking, it was all up to me, my creation.

Now looking back to one year ago, I can truly say life has turned into an unpredictable beauty. The people I have met, the places I have been to, the learnings, the challenges, it was out of my control. And incredibly the unknown has become my new comfort zone. The fact that I have no idea where I will be next year brings a complete sense of excitement into my life. It means there is space for miracles, for beauty to happen, for further growth.

As humans, I believe that we set ourselves the expectations, and are obsessed with a control over life. And as soon as anything different occurs, BAM! It's too much to handle.

"But I was so certain I would get that job!"
"I planned to be marrying this man and now I'm all alone"
"I actually HATE what I'm doing, but how can I change my plans now? It's too late"

IT'S NEVER TOO LATE. You are the creator of your life. You chose who to be around, you chose what you want to fulfil your life to. Most incredibly, you chose how you react to every single situation that occurs to you. Really think about this. Is your life now anything to what you thought it would have been two years ago? What's different? Who are the people you've met that have completely taken you off your path? What opportunities have you received that have lead you to absolute magnificence? Or... what opportunities have you let go of that in your heart you knew you wanted but they weren't 'in your plan'.

I think the best way to realise this is to ask another person, more than ten years older than you,  and whether their life turned out the way they thought it would when they were your age... I dare you. And please, if any of them say "yes it turned out exactly as I thought", let me know, as I would absolutely love to meet this master of life.

Let's ask ourselves these questions more often. Let's really ask ourselves whether we have true control of what is going to happen today, one week, or one year from now. Who knows, that person you rely your whole life upon may die tomorrow and your life will change completely. This may sound extreme but it's the absolute reality.

Yes it is great to have end goals, visions, but the plans may change, new opportunities might arise. And if you allow yourself to see that then you leave space for magic to occur in your life.

For those of you brave souls who have decided to take next year into the unknown, I congratulate you. I am here to tell you that it's going to be ok. And you have no idea how incredible your future will be. Now make the most out of it. Broaden your mind, go to extraordinary events and get out of your comfort zone . You will come to realise that the world is so much bigger than your 10 friends at school. Follow your heart and go to places that make you feel truly happy, you will meet incredible people that will change your life. Go travelling, as you will see the endless opportunities, and envelop a deep sense of gratitude for what you have in your life. Please, please,  never lose your curiosity. Continue to learn, to see the world in a different way, because school isn't the only education, your life journey is. The best one.

Good luck to you all <3
